USA: Montana barley producers to plant less barley this year
In a survey, Montana grain producers indicated they plan to increase their spring wheat acreage and decrease their barley, according to a report from The Prairiestar. Montana barley producers intend to plant an estimated 800,000 acres this spring, which is down 11 percent from last year and would be the lowest since 1953, reported the service.
Growers indicated the reason for these increased spring wheat acreage intentions is due to improved soil moisture conditions compared to last year.
